Jennifer Young has been in education for the past 20 years. She began as a middle school teacher within the inner-city classrooms of Santa Ana, California. Jen would later move to Arizona to work within the SPED platform.
Due to her own sons’ diagnosis of dyslexia, Jen realized the need for intervention and was introduced to Carol Fitzpatrick, a specialist in dyslexia, and author of two books on the subject. Jen collaborated with Carol for 11 years, teaching children and adults how to read and successfully overcome the challenges of dyslexia using the Barton Reading System.
Since Carol’s retirement, Jen continues to offer personal and online tutoring, utilizing her years of experience to help struggling readers.
Thorsen Lofstad has been teaching children at the Branch Church for the past 7 years. He recently had the opportunity to work as a Case Manager for the Department of Child Safety. Having gone through transforming tutoring with Carol Fitzpatrick and his mom, Jen Young, Thorsen has successfully overcome his struggles with dyslexia and has graduated from college. Thorsen is persuing a Master’s Degree in Family Counseling.
